The Christmas Stocking – The Final Chapter

by Jaded on July 26, 2010

Before I get to the nitty-gritty today, I want to thank you for reading my Christmas Stocking saga doing this project has helped me keep my mind occupied, and most importantly, my son loves it! He can’t wait for Santa to put “candy bars, wowlie pops and cars” in it.

Here we go.

I started by cutting out the first piece of smoke and embroidering it, but then I went ahead and embroidered all 3 pieces before cutting them out. I normal wouldn’t do this, but none of the embroidery was close to the edge, so I thought “what the heck”.

After embroidering and sequining the front of the pieces needed, I attached them to the back piece. And stuffed it with stuffing and poster board.Next, I attached it to the funnel and secured it to the stocking. Then I did the free floating smoke piece. Sequined it and attached it to the back piece, stuffed it and appliqued it to the stocking. The final decorative piece is the wreath. I cut out the front, making sure to cut out the area in the center. Then embroidered and sequined it.When this step was done, I appliqued it to the back piece and stuffed it. Then cut out the red bow piece. The instructions seemed kind of vague on how exactly to fold it, but after a few tries I managed and secured it in place.Looks nice, but the bow seemed kinda blah, compared to every thing else on this stocking that is blinged to the max. So I dressed it up a bit with a gold sequin. And attached the finished product to the train.Next I cut out the hanger piece, and attached it to the back side of the front stocking piece. Then, I pinned the back of the stocking (I previously cut it out), and pinned it to the front.I was ready to finish this baby! But, my wrist started to hurt, so I left it alone for a few days. When I came back to it I first made sure I sewed the loose hanger piece to the inside back piece of the stocking.

Then I started to sew the the stocking together. I used 2 pieces of blue floss to do this part – I want the thread to hold up, even if Santa leaves heavy gifts!

In one of my previous posts, I mentioned that according to the instructions I should have put the stocking together before I put the wheels on. I am glad I waited. It may be been slightly more cumbersome to work around the wheels and funnel, but it was easier to attach those pieces without having to worry about sewing through the back piece.

Now without further ado, I give you the Snowman Express Christmas Stocking. (click on the image to see a larger version)
