Big update today, grab some cofffee, and nice stack of cookies – I won’t tell.
I cut out the wheel cover piece number 63, I sequined it and embroidered it. I really should have embroidered it first, but it was late and I was tired.
Then I cut out the back piece, pinned it to the front and set it aside. Next up the small wheels. I cut out and embroidered theĀ first black wheel number 65.
Then cut out the green piece that goes around the outside edge, number 66, sequined it and appliqued it in place.
Then I cut out the back piece then stuffed with stuffing and poster-board.
After I closed it up, I appliqued it to the front of the wheel cover (the first piece in today’s blog).
As I am sure you can guess, then I did it all again for the second wheel.
When this was complete, I then had to sew the two gold pieces together. Stuffing with poster-board and stuffing.
Next, the whole thing gets appliqued to the stocking where indicated.
Once this piece was in place I went back and attached the big wheel. Then I started working on the drive shaft, number 71. I cut it out and sequined it.
Ick, another lousy picture, sorry…
The instructions then told me to sew the front to the back, and stuff with a “chenille stick”, I assumed this was a pipe cleaner and luckily had a few on hand.
Putting this together was kind of like stuffing a watermelon into a whole the size of a lemon.
When this step was finally over, I was able to connect it to the wheels! And I apparently forgot to take a picture of this. Once the drive shaft was in place, I was able to work on the center of the wheels.
I tried to just anchor them with one sequin straight through the wheel to the stocking, but that turned out to be a dismal failure. I ended up appliqueing them all down with a few stitches.
Looking pretty good I think! One more piece for today and the bottom of the train will be done!
I cut out piece 76, the front of the cow catcher, and embroidered it.
Then, cut out the back piece, stuffed it with poster-board and stuffing, then sewed it together. Once I finished that I attached it to the stocking.
Pfew, I think that is enough for today! Look forward to the funnel and whistle on Friday!
