The Christmas Stocking – Part 15

by Jaded on July 19, 2010

Having a stormy morning, the kids are begging to play outside. I’m going to have to come up with compromise. I am not an outside in the rain person, not anymore anyway. So before I have a riot on my hands, I’d better get to blogging.

I seem to be slowing down a bit, I don’t know if I am just tired, or if the pieces are more intricate, or what, but it is taking me forever to get anything done.

I cut out piece 52, them cut out and appliqued the red stripes numbered 53-57 to it.,Kind of hard to believe this took me two days. But it does look nice!

The instructions wanted me to sew the back of the stocking to the front, but I was afraid I would sew the stocking shut while attaching pieces. So we will see if this paid off or if this was a big mistake.

I skipped ahead.

The next day I started working on the wheels. This was quite a project! So per the instructions I cut out the green spokes numbered 60, and appliqued that piece the black piece numbered  59. Then I cut out the red piece that goes on top of that. Number 61. Then sequined it and appliqued it in place. Then I cut out the back, and made my index card insert.Appliqued the pieces together and stuffed it. I realized once I appliqued the wheel to the stocking, that I really needed the other wheels in place, so I could determine how to position the large wheel to get the drive shaft in the correct place. So I took it back off and set it aside while I worked on the other wheels. That blog post will be up later in the week. My children are screaming jibberish at each other!
