Fool Proof Fudge

by Jaded on December 15, 2010

This is seriously one of the simplest recipes out there. And it yields sinfully sensational results.

This is the fudge recipe I learned from my Great-Nana. She was an amazing lady. I will never forget her inviting me over for tomato soup and oyster crackers. The way she shuffled down the hall bundled in her blue bathrobe in the middle of July in an un-air conditioned house. Or her little old lady blue hair.

This recipe has been a staple in my family around the holidays for, since I can remember. Maybe because it is Christmastime and everyone wants to indulge in decadence. Maybe it is because this was a favorite of the birthday girls. Both my Grandmother and Great-grandmother were born on Christmas Day. I don’t know exactly why we started making this fudge, but I am glad we did. It will always bring back good memories.

My girl friend liked this recipe so much she asked that I make it as wedding favors for her wedding. That must mean it is good!

Ok, enough reminiscing, let’s get to it!

Everything you need, chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, salt, vanilla, walnuts.

The sweetened condensed milk – this is amazing stuff. I have some things I want to try in the next few months. Stay tuned for that!

Lots of chocolate chips! About 2 cups, well rounded cups!

Throw in some salt.

Start melting it together – this isn’t the most appetizing picture is it?

Yeah, that looks better.

Turn off the heat and add the vanilla.

Nuts to you. Yummy, sweet walnuts.

Pour it into the pan, and spread to the edged. Cover and chill.

I almost wasn’t going to show you this, but that wouldn’t be very honest would it? While the fudge cooled and the boys napped I gluttonously cleaned this pot – with a spoon.

Depan your fudge – the parchment makes this really easy – just lift it out.

Cut into strips.

Then cut into bite size squares. Enjoy!
